Edgbaston Goby Found in Queensland Bore Drain

The rare and endangered goby was thought to live only in a small endemic area of natural artesian springs.  However while out surveying local waters Dr Adam Kerezsy found them in a man made artesian bore drain.

“It is endangered for a reason, and that’s because it has got such a limited range,” Dr Adam Kerezsy explains.

The Edgbaston goby is an odd fish as it doesn’t swim very well, and the male guards the eggs.  Chlamydogobius squamigenus grows to a length of just under 2 inches so it is a small fish which allows it to live in small pools comfortably.
