Turface As a Substrate

turfaceToday I bought a couple bags of Turface at my local landscape supply house. I have bought Turface before and it was always the large white chips of kilndried clay.

Today I was surprised when I opened the bag and it is a bit lighter than Flora Max.   Ill see what it looks like when its wet but I was going to see what my options were for using it after I let it soak in some fertilizers so that it will bottom feed the plants.

Turface is a soil amendment product made from fired fullers earth.  A clay product made to help soils for baseball fields mainly.  There are other products like this that are suitable for a planted aquarium substrate, like oil dry and Saf T Sorb.

Now all I need to do is buy a 350 gallon aquarium and I am set.
